Darth Vader Mantis (Parablepharis kuhlii)
These mantis are known for their crest shape, which gives them an ominous look and the name Darth Vader mantis. They are native to Vietnam and the surrounding areas. They are known to be slightly more aggressive in nature and cannibalistic, so they cannot be housed together.
Size:
These are small—to medium-sized species of mantis that grow only about 1-3 inches. Males are smaller than females.
Care:
They are a moderate-humidity mantis that we spray once a day, providing water droplets for them to drink to keep hydrated. They like to be kept around 70-80% humidity. The ideal temperature is about 76-80°, but can handle getting to 86°. Generally, fruit flies are offered their whole lives, and you step up the quantities as they become larger. Fully grown, you may even provide mealworms, black soldier fly larvae, and roaches.
